This gourd-shaped vase is a masterpiece of Silver Chilbo (Korean Enameling), created by layering the brilliance of "seven precious jewels" onto a body of meticulously hammered pure silver. The Chilbo glaze applied over the silver base produces a deep, translucent luster, as if light is radiating from within a gemstone. CHEYUL’s skilled master artisans precisely control the kiln temperature and glaze composition, reaching a pinnacle of craftsmanship that no machine could ever replicate. The peony, a symbol of wealth and harmony, is reimagined in CHEYUL’s signature sentimental pastel tones. Traditionally, the gourd—with its narrow neck and wide body—has been revered as a lucky omen, believed to gather and hold blessings while trapping and warding off misfortune. Combining this auspicious form with the prosperity of the peony, this piece is more than a mere object; it is a spiritual vessel Cheyul is a Seoul atelier making lacquer and mother-of-pearl tableware, objects and jewellery by hand; made-to-order pieces can take 3–6 weeks.
