Description

Product details

A two-person dan-bansanggi: two lidded rice bowls and two soup bowls in the classic ok-sikgi (jade-form) shape, with a hand-engraved bamboo motif. Bronze keeps rice and soup hot through the meal; a traditional gift for parents' birthdays and for wedding yedan. Add a matching couple's spoon set as an option.

In the box

2 lidded bamboo-engraved rice bowls (4 pieces) + 2 soup bowls (2 pieces); spoons and spoon rests optional

Size and weight

Rice bowl Ø100 × H70 mm · soup bowl Ø120 × H55 mm · set weight approx. 2 kg

Materials

Bangjja bronze — copper 78 % / tin 22 %, hand-forged. Made in Anseong, Korea (Anseong-matchum Yugi workshop).

Care

Wash by hand with a soft sponge and mild detergent, rinse and dry immediately to avoid water marks; do not boil, do not use a dishwasher and avoid abrasive scourers on the polished surface. Bronze darkens naturally with use — the store sells a bronze-only scrubber that brings back the shine (rub in one direction on a dry surface). Keep away from strong acids and salt water for long periods.

Gift wrapping

Ships in the maker's standard gift box. Premium boxed wrapping and traditional yedan (wedding-gift) bojagi wrapping are available on request; the surcharge is quoted before payment.

Dispatch

Dispatched from Anseong; weekday orders placed before 12:00 KST usually leave the same day.

About the maker

Yeoulnuri sells the bangjja (hand-forged) bronzeware of Anseong, Gyeonggi — the historic centre of Korean bronze tableware — made in the workshop of Lee Jong-mun, holder of Anseong Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 2. Copper and tin are alloyed in the traditional 78:22 ratio, cast, then hammered and turned by hand rather than pressed by machine. Bangjja bronze holds heat and cold well, resists bacteria and does not chip; a KCL test report shows no lead, cadmium, nickel, arsenic or hexavalent chromium leaching.
